Asphalt Paving in Virginia

Hot-mix asphalt for homes, businesses, farms and private roads across Virginia. We start with the ground under the job, because a smooth surface only stays smooth on a solid base.

About asphalt paving

Paving that starts underneath

Paving is more than spreading blacktop. Before the paver ever rolls, we check how water moves across the site, dig out soft spots, and build a stone base that is graded and compacted to carry the traffic it will see. Then hot mix goes down at an even depth and gets rolled while it's still hot enough to lock together.

That approach is the same whether the job is a short residential driveway, a private lane through the woods, an equipment pad or a full commercial lot. The size changes. The steps don't.

Questions

Asphalt Paving FAQ

More questions
What kinds of projects do you pave?

Driveways, parking lots, private and community roads, farm and estate lanes, walkways, and pads for equipment, sheds or trailers. If it carries cars or trucks and it should be asphalt, we can look at it.

How thick should new asphalt be?

It depends on what drives on it. Residential driveways usually get about 2 to 3 inches of compacted asphalt over a stone base, while lots and roads that see trucks need more. We set the depth for your traffic and soil and explain it with the estimate.

When can you pave?

Hot mix needs warm, dry weather to compact properly, so most paving happens from spring through late fall. Estimates happen year round, and winter is a good time to get on the schedule.
