Asphalt Resurfacing
Milling off the worn top layer and replacing it with fresh asphalt, when the base underneath is still sound.
Resurfacing ยท Driveways and lots
An overlay lays new asphalt directly over your existing pavement. When the old surface is stable, it's a fast and cost-effective way to get a smooth new driveway or lot.

About asphalt overlay
The key word is stable. An overlay bonds to the pavement underneath, so it's only as good as what it sits on. Before we overlay, we fill cracks, patch broken spots, clean the surface and apply a tack coat so the new layer grips the old one.
Overlays work well for driveways and lots with surface wear, rough texture and minor cracking, where raising the surface an inch or two isn't a problem. We check every transition, from the street apron to garage doors and drains, before recommending one.
The job, step by step
We look at doors, drains and the street apron to make sure the new height works.
Cracks are filled and weak spots patched.
The surface is cleaned and tack coat is sprayed for a strong bond.
A new layer of hot mix goes down and is rolled smooth.
Questions
On a sound base with good drainage, an overlay can last many years. On a failing base it will crack early, which is why we only recommend one when the base is solid.
Typically about 1.5 to 2 inches of new asphalt. We taper at edges and doorways so the surface meets them cleanly.
In some cases, but joints in the concrete tend to show through the asphalt over time. We'll tell you whether removal or an overlay makes more sense.
